'Whose Curriculum is it Anyway?'

 Becoming an outstanding school in challenging circumstances

Challenges and opportunities are arising from the radical changes being introduced to the English education system. Against a backdrop of increased accountability and expectation, how can schools ensure they raise pupils achievement whilst enabling them to develop other skills and qualities just as vital in today’s world?

  • At this one day conference, leading educationalists explain their journey to becoming outstanding in a challenging climate; hear from

    • Alan Yellup, Executive Head of Wakefield City Academy on the key transferrable lessons from their journey to becoming an outstanding school. Central to Wakefield’s approach to raising attainment is through providing a ‘whole education’ and engaging all young people in learning;

    • Angela Armytage, Headteacher at Yewlands Technology College on the ‘change journey’ of the Yewlands Family of (Primary) Schools including their innovative approach to staff professional development, and strategies used by the school to engage parents to support their children’s learning.

“Excellent forum for providing areas to explore and encouraging (as a Head) to hold firm to holistic ideas for educating children, looking increasingly outwards not inwards!”

       Headteacher, Primary School

“It has been a spectacular day - I feel even more motivated than ever. It is great to know I am not alone- and to see how many organisations are interested in education and its future.”
